UNAC Emergency Call to Action…
U.S. Hands Off Venezuela! No to the U.S.-orchestrated Coup! Self-determination for Venezuela!
All out on February 23 and March 30!
The U.S. imperial colossus is poised once again to launch a regime change invasion and war on Venezuela.
The United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC), in alliance with hundreds of antiwar and social justice organizations across the country, has set February 23 for nationally-coordinated antiwar protests in cities across the country. Additionally, UNAC, and the National Steering Committee organized to build the March 30 Washington, D.C. mobilization to oppose NATO, voted unanimously to include in the March 30 action a key focus on U.S. Hands Off Venezuela!
The Trump administration and its top officials, from National Security Adviser John Bolton, Vice President Mike Pence to Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, invoking the heinous Monroe Doctrine of 1823, and backed to the hilt with bi-partisan congressional support, has proclaimed Venezuela to be in the U.S. imperial “backyard.” Working people in the U.S. are faced once again with an open bi-partisan promoted imperialist war, with the Trump administration stating that its objective is to obliterate once and for all the sovereign governments of Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, designated by President Trump as the “troika of tyranny.”
In the name of delivering “humanitarian aid” to the U.S.-appointed, CIA-trained and puppet “president,” Juan Guaido, the U.S, backed by its Colombian allies, arrived a few days ago at the Colombian border town of Cúcuta with a U.S. truck convoy, threatening to invade Venezuela via a militarily-established corridor. Realizing that the armed convoy can only be considered the prelude to an invasion, the Venezuelan government has blocked access to the bridge leading into its country.
In truth, the massive U.S.-imposed sanctions against Venezuela, its outright and illegal sequester of hundreds of millions of dollars generated from the sale of Venezuelan/CITCO oil in the U.S., its effort to prevent the sale of Venezuelan oil on world markets, and its intervention in the world’s financial institutions to ban Venezuela’s access to loans, are the central causes of that nation’s economic and social crisis. The present corporate media-promoted “humanitarian aid” scenario is tragically familiar – first the demonization of a nation’s formal leader coupled with clandestine support to U.S.-abetted reactionary forces, then a U.S.-imposed regime change coup or overt military intervention and war aimed at placing the most reactionary forces in power. The present U.S. blockade/embargo is expected to cost Venezuela $11 billion over the coming year.
As with the now-repudiated “weapons of mass destruction” pretext employed to invade Iraq, at a cost of 1.5 million Iraqis lives, U.S.-manufactured pretexts for war and invasion have led to decimation and occupation across the Middle East, from Libya and Syria, to support for dictatorship in Egypt and to abetting the Saudi monarchy’s genocidal slaughter in Yemen. In decades past, four million Vietnamese were slaughtered with the U.S. lie that a small Vietnamese boat in Vietnam’s Tonkin Bay attacked a U.S. destroyer! Today’s crudely-orchestrated and blatantly prepared U.S. war scenario is publicly aimed at ousting the democratically-elected President Maduro by strangling Venezuela’s economy, bribing its military and inserting a reactionary puppet government pledged to turn over Venezuela’s vast oil reserves – the largest on earth today – to U.S. oil monopolies.
UNAC has initiated a broad united front coalition to mobilize on March 30 against the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), which is coming to Washington, DC to “celebrate” its 70th anniversary on April 4. April 4 is the anniversary of the 1968 assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the anniversary of Dr. King’s historic anti-Vietnam War speech a year earlier at New York City’s Riverside Church. The March 30 Spring Action Coalition’s original foci were on NATO as well as against the endless U.S. wars at home and abroad and to commemorate Dr. King’s struggle against war, racism and all-pervasive poverty and inequality. With the immediate threat of war against Venezuela we have unanimously agreed to also focus on U.S. Hands Off Venezuela!, noting that Colombia, a soon to be designated NATO partner in Latin America, is actively collaborating with the threatened U.S. invasion.
Additionally, Spring Action Coalition voted to build and support nation-wide and global local Hand off Venezuela! protests on Saturday, February 23. UNAC has also endorsed all other Hands Off Venezuela! actions, including the March 16 ANSWER-called demonstration in Washington, D.C.
Join us in mobilizing for February 23 and March 30.

The real problem is the way in which these organizations were founded, it could be said that they were born in the wake of the first two world wars, in which the main world powers participated, but not for pacifist or humanitarian purposes, but with a warlike background, Mr. Martin Luther King gave an exact definition of a criterion that has always been demonstrated in the facts concerning US military interventions (racism, poverty, militarism), which have only meant loss of human life and increased spending war, which could very well be used for the population of the USA, is this contrary to the idea of the UN foundation and organizations like NATO, to prevent this from continuing, the USA should stop behaving like a bellicose interventionist country and become In a more humanitarian and pacifist nation, without neglecting its own interests as a nation, the USA must restructure its society, understanding that people like Mr. Martin Luther KIng were vindicators of what is really advisable for the nation under which they were born, the imperialist intervention will only originate more bloodshed, but the greater tolerance and the use not of force but of a humanitarian system based on the Human Rights is what will allow the USA to stop being a bad protagonist in the history of our world. Restructuring NATO and all international nations through the UN based on an entirely humanitarian system is what really should be done.
