Statement by Socialist Action, November 30, 2025
The U.S. imperialist warmongering president, racist-sexist bigot, Donald Trump, issued the following statement on November 29, 2025
“To all Airlines, Pilots, Drug Dealers, and Human Traffickers, please consider THE AIRSPACE ABOVE AND SURROUNDING VENEZUELA TO BE CLOSED IN ITS ENTIRETY,” Trump’s latest great power imperialist pronouncement was posted on his personal site, Truth Social.
To date, no elected or formal U.S. body, military or political, has confirmed prior knowledge of Trump’s war threat. As with Trump’s unilateral and illegal repeated attacks on boats and murder of their passengers off the Venezuelan coast, which Trump falsely charges with engaging in drug trafficking, his latest atrocity again threatens an overt war against the people of Venezuela.
President Trump differs from previous presidents and administrations only in that his monstrous actions are overt as opposed to traditional U.S. imperialist policy and dastardly deeds that are more often conducted covertly. Need we mention the U.S.-backed wars against Nicaragua, El Salvador, Grenada, Cuba, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Bolivia, to name a few?
Make no mistake, the U.S. maintains some 1,100 active military bases in 110 countries around the world. This is no quirk of U.S, policy. These exist, as does the $1 trillion annual U.S. military budget, the world’s most powerful army, and a five million member “national security” apparatus of security clearance agents, to guarantee U.S. capitalist interests round the world.
That the U.S. spends more on its mass murder apparatus than the rest of the world combined is no accident. Massive military spending not only facilitates U.S. wars everywhere, but fills the coffers of the U.S. military-industrial complex to unprecedented heights while guaranteeing the highest profit rates. These are no idle threat but rather a reality repeatedly imposed on any nation with the courage to dissent.
No doubt President Trump’s call last week to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro includes yet another Trump “deal” wherein beleaguered Venezuela was informed that U.S. oil cartels be further freed from Venezuelan oversight and control or Venezuela would be continued to be bombed to smithereens, sanctioned, embargoed, blockaded and subjected to secret assassinations if it did not agree to U.S. terms. These include, as a U.S. top priority, U.S. control over Venezuela’s fossil fuel resources, the largest in the world.
Our central task today is to say no to all U.S. attacks on Venezuela, to express our unconditional solidarity with its beleaguered people, to mobilize in the streets of the U.S. and worldwide to demand: U.S. Hands Off VENEZUELA!
