Statement by La Lucha/ The Struggle for Socialism, March 1, 2026
The assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei should be strongly condemned by every nation that understands the global threat that the U.S. has made so clear in the recent attacks on Venezuela and Cuba.
The Trump regime’s massive missile and bombing attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran are war crimes that only benefit Big Oil and Wall Street. The bombs fell at the start of the Iranian school week, with at least 85 children killed and many more still buried in the rubble.
The world is watching in horror, and the international community—from global powers to humanitarian organizations—is sounding the alarm. This is not just our opinion; it is a global consensus:
China has called for an immediate stop to military actions, urging a return to dialogue.
Russia condemned the strikes as a “pre-planned act of armed aggression” against a sovereign state.
Venezuela expressed “profound consternation” over the images of dead schoolchildren.
Cuba called the attacks a “serious violation of sovereignty” and a “treacherous aggression.”
Brazil condemned the attacks and called on all parties to respect international law and ensure the “protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure.”
Norway stated that the attack “is not in line with international law, ” noting that preventive strikes require an “immediately imminent threat.”
Pakistan strongly condemned the “unwarranted attacks” and called for an immediate halt to escalation through urgent diplomacy.
Even humanitarian institutions recognize the danger:
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) warned that the military escalation is “igniting a dangerous chain reaction across the region, with potentially devastating consequences for civilians.”
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the escalation, stating that the “use of force by the United States and Israel against Iran” undermines international peace and security, and he “strongly” encouraged all parties to return to the negotiating table.
If the world’s nations and the United Nations itself are united in condemning this violence, why is the White House pushing forward?
Thousands of poor and working people in Western Asia are guaranteed to die unless we stop the war mongers in the White House and Pentagon. Trump is also signing a death sentence for U.S. GIs and sailors who will be sent to fight and die for oil company profits.
These attacks are taking place while the United States was still in negotiations with Iran. It was the same story last June when Trump bombed Iran, killing over a thousand people, including schoolchildren. This is an old U.S. tactic—one used in centuries of genocidal wars against Indigenous nations, and now repeated in the Middle East.
Trump claims the Islamic Republic of Iran is a threat to world peace and must be stopped from developing nuclear weapons. For 30 years, the same stale, lying claims have come from different U.S. administrations as well as from apartheid “Israel.” It’s no more true today. The Iranian government has repeatedly said it is not developing nuclear bombs. The United States is the only country in history to have used nuclear weapons, killing hundreds of thousands in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The U.S. even refuses to rule out the first use of these weapons of mass destruction.
The real threat to world peace are the billionaires running the United States, which bombed at least seven different countries last year: Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen. Both Trump and Biden supplied the bombs to Netanyahu that have killed at least 70,000 Palestinians in Gaza. Trump wants to repeat this genocide in Iran.
Our enemies are in the White House and the corporate Boardrooms—not in Tehran.
It’s not the Islamic Republic of Iran that killed Renée Good and Alex Petti in Minneapolis. The ICE gestapo must be abolished!
It’s not Iran who has fired hundreds of thousands of union workers from the federal government—Donald Trump and Elon Musk did.
The Iranian government isn’t kicking millions of poor people off Medicaid and SNAP food benefits. It’s the Congress and White House who are committing these crimes against the working class here at home.
Gasoline prices are guaranteed to skyrocket, creating super profits for Big Oil. The oil and gas billionaires want a war with Iran just as they want to take over the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Free President Nicolás Maduro and First Combatant Cilia Flores!
It is the white supremacist Trump regime that must be overthrown—not the Islamic Republic of Iran.
All out to the streets! Join the global majority in condemning this war. Stop this filthy war for oil profits now!
